WHAT IS MYOPIA?

Myopia, or short-sightedness is characterised by difficulty seeing clearly an object in the distance.

Eye test, test your vision

Why negative lenses?

Here is the short story to why we design and sell glasses with negative lenses.

It is estimated by specialists that 1/2 of the population may be suffering from myopia by 2050, due to the increasing use of near vision on e.g. mobile screen, and less outdoor activities. (Holden B, Fricke T, Wilson D, et al. – 2016 – Global Prevalence of Myopia and High Myopia and Temporal Trends from 2000 through 2050.)

If you are short-sighted, you may;

  • have difficulty reading road signs
  • have difficulty watching TV
  • have difficulty seeing things from afar
  • have difficulty reading what is on the school boards

Bad distance vision can also result in you wanting to squint your eyes when driving or at work, this can leave you feeling fatigued.

The simple solution to myopia is to wear spectacle lenses that focus the light back onto the retina. Lenses that correct myopia are “negative lenses” because they send the light focus backwards onto the retina.

WHY BLUE LIGHT PROTECTION?

When facing a monitor all day long, protection is needed to prevent your eyes from being effected by the blue light by your monitor.

Blue Light From Phone is not good for your eyes and can influence your sleep

Why bluelight glasses?

The short answer is these facts:

  1. Prevents eye strain
  2. Reduces your eye disease risk
  3. Provides better sleep
  4. Protects the eyes from dryness
  5. Ensures that you can use your devices without worrying

Smartphones, computer screens, televisions, office fluorescent lights, and the sun emit blue light. Everywhere you look, there is blue light. All colors of light are present in the sun, including red, orange, green, and blue. However, the energy level of each color varies. For example, red and orange have longer wavelengths and less energy. Blue light consists of the shortest wavelength and contains the most energy in the spectrum of light that the human eye can see.

Blue light is primarily emitted by the sun when you are outside, but people are now exposed to more of it indoors - especially from too much screen time. Thus, eye care professionals are concerned about this excessive exposure.

The blue light glasses are specifically designed to block or filter out the blue light. By wearing blue-light-blocking glasses, people can reduce eye strain, eye damage, and sleep disturbances. Blue light blocking glasses haven't been the subject of much research, but some studies indicate that they may:

  • Preserve macular health
  • Enhance visual performance
  • Improve sleep quality
